Drink & Drugs Policy 2012

THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST MARY, WEXHAM

DRINK AND DRUGS POLICY

St Mary’s upholds the law of the land and will at no time collude with behaviour which is against that law. We recognise our particular responsibilities in relation to the use of alcohol and drugs among young people. However, we support the concept of responsible drinking and therefore permit the consumption of alcohol in moderation at suitable events. When we come across an individual who has difficulties in the area of drink/drug abuse we will offer help and support as appropriate.

  • The use of illegal drugs is not permitted on church premises.
  • People deemed to be under the influence of drink or drugs may be asked to leave the premises.
  • No young person under the age of 16 will be permitted to consume alcohol on church premises.
  • Young people over the age of 16 will not be permitted to consume alcohol at any church event unless they are in the charge of parents/guardians who have given their consent and remain responsible for them.
  • Adults at specified social events may be permitted to bring alcohol so long as they consume it in moderation and take responsibility for upholding the law in relation to children and young people in their group.
  • With the agreement of the PCC, a liquor licence for a particular event may, occasionally, be sought. In such circumstances, the organising group will be required to satisfy the PCC that procedures are in place to ensure the appropriate and legal sale and consumption of alcohol at the event.
